I saw them littered on the ground, a graveyard for a people needing to be freed from the bondage that is death. I looked for a hint of life, even a gasp of breath but life had descended from them. No breathe. No heartbeat. Just death. The air was heavy with the loss of loved ones; fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters. How did this happen? How did the earth become a graveyard for the souls of men and women who were born to live in freedom?
Ezekiel 37:12 so speak to them for me. Tell them this is what the Lord God says: ‘My people, I will open your graves and bring you up out of them! Then I will bring you to the land of Israel.
“Come out of your grave” This has been on my heart for a few weeks leading up to Good Friday and Easter weekend. We celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was crucified for our sins, died and was in the grave for three days. He rose and now because of Him we live and breathe. Our lives came at the expense of our Savior. What a beautiful sacrifice that set us free.
**READ: John 3:16-17; Romans 5:8 Isaiah 53:3-12**
Despite the sacrifice on the cross and the fact that the resurrected Savior is alive, many are still in their graves. The Lord wants to bring them out of their graves of sin, lust, poverty, bondage, addictions, sickness… etc The grave is a place of darkness, pain and despair. There is life out of the grave and His name is Jesus.
I saw prison walls, some vertical others horizontal, shackled hands and feet, stolen breakthroughs covered in dust. The grave had held them for far too long. The prison though stricken was home to some, a comfort zone, a place of refuge where hope for freedom was a by word. How did this happen? They need freedom. They need freedom.
Their cries were feeble. They had no strength. The tormentor was relentless; sneering, laughing, cursing, jeering, daring those bold enough to open their mouths to pray then lashing out oppressing them and robbing them of hope. Vacant eyes stared out prison the bars. No hope. No life. They turn from the path and head back to an oppressed life. Such was life for these. They need freedom. They need freedom.
Philippians 2:10-11 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The same tongue that torments and scoffs at you shall confess Jesus is Lord. The same heel that hold you down shall bow before the King of Kings and the Lord of lords – JESUS CHRIST.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, hopeless and ready to give up I want to encourage you to keep moving forward. Don’t stop praying. Don’t stop hoping no matter how long it’s been. There is hope. His name is Jesus. Call on the name of Jesus, keep calling and you will see the chains loosen and fall off. The enemy never wants you to know the truth so he taunts and sneers, scoffing at every attempt to BE free. Rebuke him, you have authority over him. (Luke 10:19) Silence him in the name of Jesus. You my friend are an over comer. The grave was never meant to hold you, it was never meant to be your home or hold your blessings and breakthroughs. There is freedom in Jesus. He is the author and finisher of our faith and He decides not the enemy. So arise, get out of your grave. Do you hear Him calling your name?
John 11:43-44 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice,“Lazarus, come forth!” And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them,“Loose him, and let him go.
Lazarus was dead four days but when Jesus called him out of the grave, he came out. Jesus is the resurrection power. No other power or god can give you or your situation life. Time passed doesn’t hinder the Resurrection power who is Jesus Christ. Didn’t He also spend three days in the grave and rose again? Didn’t He defeat death? This was the natural death and yet He overcome. Lazarus death was natural yet the Son of God called Him out of his grave. Considering that He has power over the natural death, is it impossible for Him to restore dead situations? Is it impossible for Him to breath new life in your finances, marriage, career, children, ministry or walk? YES!. YES! YES!
Whatever area of your life needs a touch from God, give it to Him. He creates when He speaks (Genesis 1) In the beginning – there was nothing but as He spoke, it came to be. His voice is life, it creates. Seek His will in all the areas of your life then release His word over every situation. Remember life and death are in the power of your tongue. Speak life. Hear the Son as He calls you out of the grave, hear His voice as it speaks to the grave holding your breakthrough and stand on His word; speak it. Don’t cling to the grave clothes, don’t cling to the shackles, don’t leave your stuff in the grave – by faith receive what He releases. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that Gods plans for us are to prosper us and not to harm us, they are to give us hope and a future.
I saw the graves open as light penetrated darkness releasing the sons and daughters of God and they stepped out. Their grave clothes fell off of them, chains breaking with each step they took out of the darkened pit that had been their existence. The grave knowing the power of the One who rose, the One who called His friend out of it’s pit spat out those it had held captive, releasing blessings, promises it had taken from these sons of God. No more. No more. Freedom came and called His loved ones from slumber. Death has lost it’s sting. The grave has lost it’s grip. Now, walk in freedom sons and daughters. Run, praise. Shout, sing praises for the grave is no more. The power of the resurrected King, The voice that creates has spoken. Be free!
John 11: 25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
