Don’t Feed It

Mark 7:20 And Jesus said, “whatever comes from the heart of man, that is what defiles and dishonors him.”

One time, in one of our dailyconversations I was talking to the Lord about issues that affectpeople and how they react to it. I didn’t expect it to be a deepconversation but then the Holy Spirit proceeded to talk to me aboutfeeding the right thing.

You see, in life, things will happen, and certain emotions and thoughts will find their way in your heartand mind. No one is immune to this. God created us to feel and thinkand just like Him we do but unlike Him, our thoughts and feelings canbe corrupted by us.

The Holy Spirit proceeded to show me people dealing with different things, not all bad and how thoughts coming in their minds feed their emotions and how their emotions are fueled their thought and reactions. I watched fascinated yet a little perturbed as thoughts and emotions clashed with each other and produced results that were either good or bad. I was shown how we dwell on things we have no business dwelling on and in return a type of agreement is made between our hearts, minds and the situation- good or bad. In this case, the Holy Spirit was highlighting the negative effects and this is what He said to me.

“Those things that come in you do not have any power over you unless you release them. You can kill these things. Don’t allow them to take root by feeding them because they will then need an exit and when they come out whatever was nurtured will be planted. Whatever you chose to nurture will grow. Kill the bad seeds that enter your heart and mind by using the sword of the spirit and declare the word.”

Sounds like an easy thing to do, right? When you’re on the outside looking in as I was in this case, I couldpin point the exact moment a person started feeding the wrong thingbecause they were hurting or angry. I watched as their emotions putin action through words and actions affected themselves and others. It wasn’t a pretty picture. Yet, I’ve been there and done that. I canshare many things I fed that once released came back to bite me andthere were unfortunate repercussions.

We are human and we make mistakes. We need to remember to crucify the flesh, keep our minds of things above because life and death lie in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21) We have power and authority to trample over snakes and scorpion and defeat all powers of hell (John 10:19). We need to remember we possess the key to unlock and lock doors (Isaiah 22:22) and wisdom is available to any who ask (James 1:5).The Holy Spirit is our helper (John 14:26) and when we ask for His help He will never leave us in a lurch. He will always step into any situation we invite Him into. As we know, we overcome by the blood of the Lamb AND the word of our testimony Revelation 12:11).

We have the ability to live a righteous life and we should all strive to please God by choosing to live righteously. The word should be our confession as He is the word. (John 1:1). While no one is perfect and we might have days when our tongues get us in trouble, God is still on the throne and He hears our prayers when we call unto Him in repentance.

As we proceed into the new year, make a conscious choice to curb negativity before it takes root in your heart. Remember, you have the key which is the word of God; use it to shut the doors of negativity and open doors that honor the Lord. Lets all feed on the word and allow the word to nurture us.

Love & Blessings!

  1. What we feed will grow is how the Lord put it to me…

Are we feeding our flesh or are we feeding our Spirit! What we feed the most will become the dominant and leading force in our lives!!

    Great message Sis!!
