Step by Step – 1. Gods Call To Greater

Genesis 12:1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.

This verse has been on my heart for the last few days. I knew the Lord was speaking to me about what I needed to do to move to the next level. The first step was so unrelated to the second and third step in my eyes but after this past weekend, I’m seeing how the steps are part of His grand plan even though I don’t quite get how the steps will flow together.

What does this have to do with the above scripture?

Abram (Abraham) was asked to leave his hometown and embark on a journey that cemented Israel stepping into the promise land. The only instruction God gave Abram was “leave your father’s house and go to a land/country I will show you. Abram didn’t ask God where he was going, he didn’t ask why he had to leave – I mean he could have received a blessing right where he was at, he didn’t complain and say he needed more information before he left, he just packed up and left. The only thing he knew was that God was going to bless him. (Genesis 12:2-3 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.  I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”)

I love what verse 4 says – So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him…

Have you departed from the place God has asked you to depart from? **think about it**

Like I said, my first instruction for this season was so unrelated to my second instruction. First, I needed to create a new Facebook page ministry and do video teachings – the page is created and the videos will be as He directs. Then I had to go to Atlanta and volunteer for a ministry event. Last week, a friend reached out to me and told me I needed to attend a ministry event on Sunday 11/12/17. To be honest, I didn’t want to travel because the previous weekend, I was in Atlanta – another one of Gods grand plans. This past Sunday, the event was 2 hours away and it started at 2.30pm. The one thing I’ve learnt is God doesn’t need our permission to give us directions but we have the option to receive or reject the instructions. I prayed for confirmation and it was given in one word; “GO!’ So Sunday morning, I was back on the road.

I had expectation but I wasn’t prepared for the mind blowing way God came through for me. I met amazing Jesus lovers, souls so hungry for Jesus and I found myself on the floor worshiping the One who loves me best. I didn’t make it back home until 2 am and the trip back was an adventure – but that’s a story for another day.

What does opening a Facebook page have to do with Atlanta and Port Richey Florida? My calling. The unorthodox way God chooses to fulfill His promises boggles my mind sometimes. I had to make this mini trips, meet some people, make some connections only to come back home and wait for the next step.

God could have just told Abraham, “go to Canaan – the Canaanites will welcome you and freely give you land and as your house grows, so will your territory. I will give you favor in their sight…” but He didn’t. Why? Because the process was important to God. Abrams growth was important to God – Abram had much to learn and so do we. The detours are not to frustrate us; they are to make us. The long trips to our promise lands are lessons we should heed and OBEDIENCE is key.

I know God is not done with me, there is much to learn and I’m excited. Thankfully I love adventures. God is not done with you either – do what He asks even when it doesn’t make sense. Trust Him to lead you through the mountains, plains and valleys – He has a plan on how it will all come together for you.

Again, I ask you; Have you departed from the place God has asked you to depart from?

Love and blessings!

  1. RICH! RICH! RICH! Did I say RICH? I mean RICH WORD! Abraham’s blessedness was tied directly to His belief and obedience…

“And he (Abraham) believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness…Genesis 15:6

“Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!”
And he said, “Here I am.” 2 Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”..Genesis 22:1-2
